Making the Decision to See A Therapist
The decision to seek counseling is a big step towards creating the kind of life that
you want. Congratulations!   Finding a therapist you feel comfortable with, and
who you feel can be helpful to you, can be daunting ~ yet it is an important part of
the process.  In my work with you, I will always endeavor to create a supportive
and warm relationship with you.

My approach to helping people obtain their goals is based on my understanding
that we are all highly motivated to achieve happiness, success, and good
relationships.  Traumas and misunderstandings experienced in infancy and
childhood can leave us with powerful, harmful, negative beliefs about ourselves
and impede us from obtaining our goals.

In 1990, while in pursuit of my own answers, I began to experience tremendous
relief from my own negative beliefs about myself through a therapist whose
clinical approach to counseling was with a theory of psychotherapy called Control
Mastery Theory (see
www.controlmastery.org for a detailed definition).  It is
important to understand that no technique or theory can help people to heal
without a caring and genuine relationship with a therapist we feel supported by.  I
feel fortunate to have had this kind of experience, and thus, this is now my
approach to helping others.
